The Porsche 911 Turbo Coupe Flatnose (Japanese: ポルシェ 911ターボ フラットノーズ, Porushe Nain'irebun Tābo Furattonōzu) is a R/C Mini 4WD car released by Tamiya on November 26, 2002.

It was based on the Flachbau ("flatnose" or "slantnose") variant of the 930-generation Porsche 911 Turbo coupe sports car.

General info[]

The Flatnose features the flatnose, short-end coupe body design, with a large rear spoiler intergrated onto the rear. It also has the flaresides on both the front and rear fenders, as well as the retractable headlamps in closed form on the front.

It was mainly in grand prix white, with black/gray parts on all around the bodyshell.

It was equipped with the white, small diameter RC-type wheels with the black RC slick tires. The chassis frame and A parts were molded in black and gray respectively. It is only available in a standalone assembly kit.

About the Porsche 911 Turbo Coupe "Flachbau"[]

The 930-generation Porsche 911 series was first introduced in 1975, superseded the 912-generation models. One special Turbocharger-equipped coupe model, called the Flachbau, can be only purchased via Porsche's "Sonderwunschprogramm" (special order program) beginning in 1981.

Unlike the rest of the 930 models, the Flachbau sports the flatnose and retractable headlamps that were first used in the company's 935 race car. Because each Flachbaus has their front bonnet remodeled from the normal Turbo coupes by handcrafting, they were usually carries high premium price, up to 60 percents more than that of the normal Turbo coupe's price.

Other than the flatnose front, all other specifications are the same as the Turbo coupe with the 330HP perfomance option equipped; It was powered by a 3.3 Liter turbocharged, water-cooled flat-6 petrol engine that was tuned to produces about 330 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 344 lb·ft at 4,000rpm. The engine was mated to a 4-speed manual gearbox and later a 5-speed manual gearbox, which then transfers the power to the rear wheels. Other specifications includes the front and rear large cross-drilled ventilated disc brakes.

The Flachbau was discontinued in 1989 as with other 930 models. The 930 models were superseded by the short-lived 911SC models.
