About the 3rd-generation Mitsubishi Pajero[]
Launched in 1999, the 3rd-generation V60 Pajero is a SUV manufactured by Mitsubishi Motors. It supersedes the 2nd-generation V20 model.
Whereas previous Pajero models had body-on-frame design, the V60 model has the unibody construction with integral ladder frame chassis, increasing its torsional rigidity and drastically improves its cabin strength, while giving it a lower, wider stance. The V60 Pajero was available in 3-door and 5-door body configurations.
Powering the car are a series of petrol and diesel engines developed by Mitsubishi. Petrol engines available for the V60 Pajero ranging from a 3.0 liter 6G72 V6 engine to a 3.5 liter 6G75 V6 engine, while the available diesel engines are ranging from a 2.5 liter 4D56 turbocharged inline-4 engine to a 3.2 liter 4M41 turbocharged inline-4 engine. The engine is mated to either a 5-speed manual, a 4-speed INVECS-II automatic or a 5-speed INVECS-II tiptronic automatic gearbox, which sends the power to all four wheels through its full-time four-wheel-drive drivetrain. The Super Select 4WD, now renamed as Super Select 4WD II, was futher refined, with the bevel gears replaced with planetary gears and the system is now being fully electronic.
Supporting its monocoque chassis is the front double-wishbone suspensions and the rear multi-line-type double-wishbones suspensions, with coil springs on all four. Braking power is provided by the ventilated disc brakes on all four wheels.
The V60 Pajero was later superseded by the V80 Pajero in 2006.
