The Poseidon-X (Japanese: ポセイドンX, Poseidon Ekkusu) is a Mini 4WD car released by Tamiya in November 1993 as an add-on body parts set for existing Super Mini 4WD cars and later released as a standalone kit in the limited Black Special variant. It was a winning entry in the Super Mini 4WD design contest held on CoroCoro Comic magazine in 1993.

The Poseidon-X is considered a very rare model by many enthusiasts, and has been re-released since.

It was featured in the manga The Wind Racer! Otokogi as Ryou Hayami's machine.

General info

The Poseidon-X features a much different design compared to the other machines appearing in The Wind Racer! Otokogi. It features a small rear spoiler and an air-duct placed behind the canopy. There's also the front section which acts as a spoiler which is a recurring theme in the series.

Body Set / Standard variant

Due to the fact that Ryou Hayami is an aqua racer, the limited body set was colored in navy blue.

The body can be attached to any rear-motor chassis, though the Super-1 Chassis and Super-II Chassis are recommended.

Black Special variant

The Black Special variant featuring the black body color.

It was equipped with the white, large diameter 3-spoke lightweight wheels paired with the black Avante-type slick tires. The chassis frame, the A parts and the normal-type side guard were molded in gray, magenta and green respectively. It doesn't comes with a standard motor.
