Several manufacturer decals can be seen on the bodyshell, including Calsonic, Total, Impul, Nismo, Altia, CK Sales and Tamiya. It was in the Calsonic Blue color.

About Calsonic Team Impul's Nissan Skyline GT-R[]

The R34 Skyline GT-R GT500 race car, based on the road-legal R34 Skyline GT-R, was introduced in the 2002 Super GT season, replacing the old R33 GT500 race car.

Compare to the R33 GT500, the R34 has lower engine placement, resulting in lowering car's center of gravity. The engine is also bolted directly to the frames to increase rigidity.

The R34 GT500 was powered by a modified RB26DETT twin-turbo straight-six engine, which had been bore up from 2.6 liter to 2.8 liter and has its ceramic turbochargers replaced by the metallic ones. As with any of the race car in the Super GT seasons, It has the front-engine and rear-wheel-drive layout.

For the 2002 season, two racing team are racing in the R34 GT500 race cars: Calsonic Team Impul for car no.12 and Nismo for car no.22 and 23. On Calsonic Team Impul's side, Tetsuya Tanaka had driven the car throughout all the rounds, while Kazuyoshi Hoshino and Benoît Tréluyer had both driven the car for round 1 to 5 and round 6-8 respectively. This is the last Super GT win for Hoshino, who retired from racing at the end of 2002.
